Firestopping
To learn more about Firestopping please read below:
Firestopping is a type of construction that helps to reduce the spread of fire and smoke in buildings. These materials expand when exposed to heat and help to slow down the spread of fire and smoke. Firestopping can also include the installation of fire-rated doors, fire-rated windows, fire-rated ductwork, fire-rated penetrations, and fire-rated electrical outlets. Firestopping is essential for ensuring that buildings meet fire safety standards and remain safe for occupants.

Intumescent Coated Batts
Intumescent Batts are a cost effective, lightweight answer to most fire stopping requirements and consist of a mineral fibre board coated with an elastomeric, ablative water based sealant for fire sealing temporary and permanent multiple-service openings in walls and floors. In the event of a fire, the correctly installed batts prevent the passage of fire and smoke from the compartment wall/floor when penetrated by building services.

Key Features:
-
Up to 4 hours fire resistance
-
Easy, fast installation
-
Thermal, air sealing & acoustic ratings up to 59Db
-
Can be used for cable trays, trunking, blank openings, ducting, metal & plastic pipes

Pipe Collars / Wraps & Sleeves
Pipe collars are surface mounted whereas a pipe wrap /sleeve fits around the circumference of the pipe within the depth of the substrate. In the event of a fire both systems will prevent the passage of fire & smoke by closing off the aperture within the compartment wall/floor when penetrated with plastic pipes.

Key Features:
-
Up to 2 hours fire resistance
-
Lightweight, flexible & easy to install
-
High performance expansion rate
-
For, (but not limited to), UPVC,PVC, Metal and composite pipe penetrations

Intumescent Mastic
Intumescent mastics can be used for all building & constructions joints and normally consist of a single part; water based acrylic, (silicone available upon request) and is used to provide fire protection to gaps & movement joints. It also provides fire protection around service penetrations when used in conjunction with the Intumescent batts.

Key Features:
-
Up to 4 hours fire resistance
-
Suitable for gaps up to 50mm wide
-
Maintains substrate acoustic & air seal ratings
-
Reduces air leakage
-
Accommodates movement

Intumescent Compound
Intumescent compound is single part gypsum based material for sealing around service penetrations, steel pipes, steel ducts, cables & cable trays running through floors and is designed to re-instate the fire resistance of the compartment floor whilst providing an unsupported load-bearing system.

Key Features:
-
Up to 4 hours fire resistance
-
Easy, fast installation
-
Load bearing
-
Quick setting
-
Easy re-penetrable

Putty Pads
Putty pads are a non-setting, silicone based product which are designed to reinstate the fire integrity of the wall when penetrated by an electrical backing box, eliminating the requirement for a baffle box.

Key Features:
-
Up to 2 hours fire resistance
-
Easy to install
-
Maintains the acoustic integrity
-
Electrically non-conductive
